Mycosis Fungoides

Mycosis fungoides (also known as Alibert-Bazin syndrome or granuloma fungoides), is the most common form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. It generally affects the skin, but may progress internally over time.

Mycosis fungoides was first described in 1806 by French dermatologist Jean-Louis-Marc Alibert. The name mycosis fungoides is somewhat misleading–it loosely means “mushroom-like fungal disease”. The disease, however, is not a fungal infection but rather a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It was so named because Alibert described the skin tumors of a severe case as having a mushroom-like appearance.

Laryngitis

Laryngitis is an inflammation of the larynx. It causes hoarse voice or the complete loss of the voice because of irritation to the vocal folds (vocal cords). Dysphonia is the medical term for a vocal disorder, of which laryngitis is one cause. Laryngitis is categorized as acute if it lasts less than a few days. Otherwise it is categorized as chronic, and may last over 3 weeks.

Jock Itch (Tinea cruris)

Tinea cruris, also known as crotch itch, crotch rot, Eczema marginatum, Gym itch, jock itch, and Ringworm of the groin in American English and dhobi itch or scrot rot in British English, is a dermatophyte fungal infection of the groin region in either sex, though more often seen in males.

Granuloma Fungoides (Mycosis fungoides)

Fungus, Nails (Onychomycosis)

Onychomycosis (also known as “Dermatophytic onychomycosis,” “Ringworm of the nail,” and “Tinea unguium”) means fungal infection of the nail. It is the most common disease of the nails and constitutes about a half of all nail abnormalities.

This condition may affect toenails or fingernails, but toenail infections are particularly common. The prevalence of onychomycosis is about 6-8% in the adult population. Onychomycosis caused by dermatophytes is also known as tinea unguium (tinea of the nails).
